( omg. i almost forgot how to make them, it's been so long. )

so there. it's hard to get back on the wagon after 10 years, but i'm doing my best.

like, i never stopped making dolls, just spent more time making them for me instead of to sell. and i've learned a lot along the way? idk. it's super terrifying dipping my toes back in the big art waters, ngl.

I'm at Starbucks using the internets and they close in half an hour, so I'm gonna make this picture post of my finished birdthings and come back to morrow to put them all up on Etsy. ^_^

I don't know how to make this less picture intensive? So I'm just gonna make one big post with cuts instead of one post per bird? I hope this works. D:

the Poet Elah Gal

I am pretty tuckered out as I stayed up last night with a wild hair of inspiration and finished the Poet! omg finally!! I went to bed around 6am hoping that Leeloo would let me sleep past 10, but no joy. :/ So yus. Jane will not be working past posting this. *augh. dies of no sleep* I truly believe that right now caffeine will do me more harm then good and so I'll try and catch up a bit by going to bed early. (Oh, the huge manatees!)

So yus! The Poet! The poet Elah Gal is the narrator of "Child Empress of Mars" by Theodora Goss and I've been working on her for about 6 months now. o_o;; I am very happy to have finished her and hopefully I can get her in the mail onward to her destination soon.

Back in Novemberish, I posted about the Interfictions 2 auction and the doll i made and donated for the Interstitial Arts Foundation (IAF). The story I chose, "Child Empress of Mars" by Theodora Goss, can be found in the Interfictions 2 anthology which you can buy from Amazon here and Small Beer Press here. :D I totally encourage folks to check it out! Not just for the Child Empress, but for the rest of the stories as well. So much yay! :D :D

My brain she's been eaten by this handsome dude. He's about 12" tall and is an all terrain beastie. As usual, I bemoan my lack of photo skills. I'm getting better, but I have yet to discover the trick to making them look as nice as they do in person. *sigh* one day...

Here are pics from this weekend! ^___^ I had a lot of fun at the opening. Julie Woodward, the owner was lovely to meet and set up everything and was generally awesome. ^__^ and reader222 was a godsend and fabulous travelpartner. ^__^ Whoot!

And!! The art is fabulous!! Seriously, if y'all are in the Jacksonville, IL area from now until August 7, totally go and check it out!! ^_____^

Also!! There are the elusive Skellieones. :D Three of them! This guy's name is Skellieone - Black. Descriptive, I know. The other two are Skellieones - Grey and Green. (I was kinda running out of time! D: I don't know what I would have done if Betsy hadn't written out a zillion tags for me! D: D:)

In car news, I called the mechanic this afternoon and he said that the new alternator he put in was toasted and he replaced that and tested it and it's all running and stuff. :/ I hope he's right as I have now spent more money on repairs than I have at the moment. :((

I'll be arranging for a ride out there this weekend when I head back to Rockford for Warren and Betsy's vow renewal and picnic. (Which is going to be Awesome!) Hopefully DoomCar will make it back to Madison in one piece. :/
